Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear Can you imagine your life without fear? Jesus repeatedly used the words "Fear not." In fact, it was his most common command. Have we taken it to heart? Have we listened to Him? |
In his latest book, Max Lucado divides our fears into thirteen categories. For each of these, he relates stories of people who have experienced those fears. He demonstrates from the scriptures how Christ showed his disciples to react to those specific fears, and provides us with help for our fears. Also included at the end of the text is a discussion guide with helpful questions, scripture, and application for use by groups or individuals.
When I first heard the title Fearless, I was concerned that this was going to be a self-help, how-to book for conquering our fears. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Max Lucado uses scripture after scripture along with meaningful illustrations to help us to recognize our fears. I saw that fear is the opposite of faith and that it is our faith that will conquer our fears. And is important to recognize that our faith is not in faith itself, but that object of our faith is Christ, who alone is able to calm our fears.
