I have been thinking about thankfulness lately.  I think I tend to start thinking these thoughts every fall because of the approach of Thanksgiving, but I also have been somewhat discouraged in seeing ungrateful behaviors in my children.  Well, unfortunately the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree you know?  I think that God sometimes uses our children’s behaviors to give us a look in the mirror at some of our own attitudes.  (Not always of course.  I don’t want everyone to fall into despair because their children’s bad behavior is all their fault.  That is not what I am saying at all.)

Anyway, I started looking at how I can encourage thankfulness in my children, and I put together another squidoo lens.  I still have some work to do on it.  I’m planning to add more Thanksgiving links.  But, I’m trying not to just have every turkey, Pilgrim, and Indian craft.  I want the activities to all point us back to thankfulness and ultimately to Christ, to whom we are to be thankful above all.

So, check out my new squidoo lens. Thankful hearts or (www.squidoo.com/thankfulhearts if the link doesn’t work.).  Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas to add.

  1. I think with all the hardships going on around us this year it will be something on a lot of folks minds. I know I fail daily, but it is something I try very hard to teach my children. There are so many things we take for granted. Health I suppose was my biggie…I never imagined at 42 I would be in the position to not be able physically to do the things I wanted to.

I can not wait to check out the links. You are so crafty , and always leave me inspired.

  2. We do not have Thanksgiving as a holiday but being thankful is surely a wonderful Christian trait to learn and teach the children, too. I know I have to start with myself before I can teach this meaningfully to the young ones.

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. Lovely! I had a friend who said "Praise the Lord!" as a general exclamation in many circumstances. My favorite example was the time she lost her purse and thought it might be under the pew. "Nope, not here, praise the Lord!" I thought she was such a great example!
