We’re having a different kind of week around here. My husband is off work because it’s his spring break. (He’s a public school teacher!) So, I’m using the mornings to administer the IOWA test to my older kids. Then in the afternoon I’m cleaning out and organizing! Yesterday, I emptied out my 7 year olds dresser and closet. I separated all his outgrown clothes into ones to sell and ones to donate.

Then this afternoon, I tackled both of my daughters’ clothes. It was horrible how many clothes my 9 year old had stuffed into her drawers. Hopefully, she’ll keep them neater now that we’ve emptied so much out of them. The closet has about 1/3 of the clothes it did have stuffed in there! I’ll be ready for the the next consignment sale!

Since I was on a roll, I went through the magazine rack where I store my homeschool curriculum catalogs and tossed a hefty stack. Then I went through the magazine basket in the living room. How do these things get piled up so quickly?

Finally, I took a look at our coat hooks. I removed all the heavy coats and as well as any jacket or coat that is too small. I threw the coats in the washer so they’d be clean to store for either selling or wearing next year. Now our hooks have only 1 jacket per person. It’s wonderful to not have those big, bulky coats hanging in the way anymore!

Hopefully, my cleaning out bug will continue through the week. I’ve still got my older son’s clothes to go through. And it sure would be nice to sort through some toys and dare I even mention—books!

  1. Good for you! I always feel so much better after I've cleaned out. I think it's time for me to "start feeling better" again. 😉

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I too went through the clothes of my 13 year old yesterday, I decided I buy her way to much lol! She has grown so much this past year though, and is now taller than I am.

I still need to tackle the books and things though – we finished our school year (we started last June), so I need to decide on curriculum for next year now!
