The world-wide web is a big place… A really big place… Just about anything you want to know, you can find on-line.

If you know how to search for it.

And if you can trust the information.

The last thing you want to do is plan a homeschool lesson using faulty facts and outdated information.

Lesson Planet is a search engine for teachers. It contains links to over 150,000 teacher reviewed lesson plans and 75,000 worksheets. The site is logically organized with either browsing by subject or searching options. The search results are clearly labeled with the suggested grade range, as well as a rating. Members can also rate and review the lesson plans and worksheets. Another helpful feature is a calendar of important dates with links directly in the calendar.

I’m an admitted homeschool curriculum addict. I spend a lot of time researching curriculum and choosing what I think is best for my family. What I don’t do is plan a lot of lessons. I’ve already spent money on curriculum, so I tend to just follow it. So for me a Lesson Planet membership would not be that helpful. However, for homeschoolers who design their own studies, this could be a very helpful tool.

If Lesson Planet sounds like something that would help you, sign up for a 10 day free trial. (Note: It requires a credit card, and you must cancel in order to avoid being charged.) The cost of a full-year of access to Lesson Planet is $39.95.
