My husband gave me a very nice gift for Mother’s Day and our anniversary — an iPod Touch! I had never been that interested in iPods before, because I’m not that big on listening to music. I’m also not a fan of walking around with things in my ears. But that was before the Touch. When I realized that the iPod Touch is like a mini-computer, that got my attention. When I found out that you could check e-mail and Facebook, plus store e-books and a lot more on the Touch, it went on my wish list.

In my 6 weeks of iPod Touch ownership I’ve spent a lot of time browsing for apps (especially free ones). I found out something that I hadn’t realized. There are a lot of great educational apps, and they’re mostly very inexpensive.

The other thing I found out was that although it took me awhile to figure out how it worked, my kids seemed to know how to operate it intuitively. Even my 3-1/2 year old. I was excited to find the new Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star – Preschool Story Piano App by Kiboomu.com. I received a free copy of the app as part of an introductory promotion.

This is such a cute app! There are several ways to use it. The child can listen to the song and even sing along and record his voice. The piano keys light up so he can learn the notes. He can change the sound to a different instrument or even animal sounds. There is a karaoke style sing-along with the words displayed in 3 different languages. There is another option to display the music notes as the song is played and the notes light up on the keyboard. As you can see, the graphics are very nicely done as well.

My 3-1/2 year old daughter enjoys playing with this App. I’m looking forward to more apps from Kiboomu.com. You can purchase the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano App from iTunes for $0.99.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this app as part of a promotion. The review is my personal opinion. I was not compensated for this review.

  1. I love my IPod touch too! I just finished converting all the TOS Expo mp3s to audio books and loaded onto mine for listening when I’m grocery shopping or have some quiet time. I also have been reading the Travel Kits e-book on there. 😉
