In honor of Valentine’s Day this month, I thought I would admit that I am in love with….
My mixer! My sweet husband gave my beautiful mixer for me for Christmas last year (2006). He saw me drooling over them in the sale sheets. (what a subtle hint) I had wanted a stand mixer for years. But not just any stand mixer. I wanted a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer….in RED. I don’t know why I love the red so much. Maybe it’s because I’m an NC State alumni, but I don’t think so. My dining room is painted red and the kitchen in my last house was red. I just love red in the kitchen. It makes me so happy.
So, last year my husband was shopping for the best deal on-line for a mixer for me and he found that Amazon had the white mixer for $75 less than the red. Why you ask??? I still don’t know. It must have been some Black Friday gimmick. He knew I wanted the red, but he came and told me the white was on sale. I quietly pondered this new development. I mean did I want the mixer just because it was red, or did I want it for the wonderful things I could make in the kitchen? I told dh to get the white because it was a lot of money to spend on a Christmas present anyway, and the color shouldn’t matter that much. (but it did.) And dh knew it did. So, he balked on buying the white. When he decided to buy the white the price was back up!!!! So he ordered my beautiful red mixer.
I use my mixer so much. I make bread dough with it. I mix meatloaf in it. This year for Christmas I got a slicing/shredding attachment and I am finding multiple excuses to use that. Today we had quiche for dinner. I first made the pastry crust in my mixer, then I shredded the cheese with the shredder attachment, then I beat the eggs with the mixer.
This weekend my sweet husband was looking at the sale ads at the beautiful red front loading washers and dryers. Maybe he thinks that if he gets them for me that I’ll like doing laundry! I’m not so sure, but it might be worth the risk 😉 LOL

Oooh.. I've wanted one of those for a while. I just can't justify buying a new one until my current mixer dies. BTW, came here through your post on the lapbooking group. I did use those Primary Phonics readers and workbook with my youngest a few years ago, Level 3 (or is it C? I can't remember) and she really loved them. Very similar to the freebies you can get at Starfall – http://www.starfall.com/n/N-info/download.htm
There is nothing nicer than a new mixer. With all the red, don't you worry about "losing" it?? LOL Have fun!

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer too…so I can understand how you can love it so much. 🙂
And you're right about the washer & dryer too…I think it definitely would be worth the risk. LOL
Amazing…I also got my Kitchen Aid Mixer for Christmas in 2006. I love mine so much, use it all the time. Mine is not red though. lol
I can't say which is easier to blog at as they both have pros/cons….I think template work is a touch easier here, but maybe it's just what your used to?
Just before Christmas my husband won a drawing at work and got me a new kitchen aid! I had a white one my mom had got me years ago and loved it but I wanted to do the grain thing with it and needed the higher power the one he got has it! I couldn't live without mine! We love to do breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, shredded zuchini patties, ground meat sandwich… and so much more. My new one is black.
