With all the cleaning out and reorganizing I’ve been doing lately, I’m thinking once again about how I can keep my house cleaner. I am still looking for a housecleaning schedule/plan that will work for me. We’re pretty good about keeping up with the basics, it’s just those extra things like dusting cobwebs out of corners, vacuuming with the edge tool right next to the baseboards, and dusting the top of refrigerator that never seem to get done.

I’ve found a few interesting sites in my search.

Organized Home has an interesting article about why we shouldn’t need to do spring cleaning.

They also have some free printables to make your own Home Management Notebook.

My Cleaning Plan.com seemed like a really neat on-line tool at first. I entered all the rooms of my house and selected the chores that were applicable to each room. It makes a plan up for you from that. The problem is that it’s not customizable and all the weekly chores are done on Monday. As much as I’d like to have my whole house clean at once, that is not going to happen and homeschool. I have to spread my chores throughout the week and this site wouldn’t let me do that.

I can’t neglect to mention FlyLady. Her ideas have been very helpful in getting my day-to-day cleaning and clutter managed.

I did find this house cleaning checklist template for Microsoft Word. It’s a good start, but I think I’m going to have to make my own plan. I’ll keep you posted.

  1. I bet your home:my home is as a hospital:barnyard. I'll have to check out the links and plan on doing a better job of removing clutter and cleaning house. It's easy to come up w/ a plan (I love to plan), but sticking to it is another story (I hate to clean)! 🙁
