Tradition.
There’s something wonderfully comfortable about traditions. I think that’s one of the things that makes Christmas such a special family time.
We have purposed in our family to make Christ the center of our Christmas celebrations. From the time we had our first child, we knew that we wanted to make sure that he always understood the true meaning of Christmas. The Christmas my oldest was just over a year old, a lady in our church offered a class to on making an advent calendar. (That’s what she called it, anyway. I’ve noticed that most advent calendars are a little different.) Our calendar is kind of like a Jesse tree too, except that our ornaments are “hung” on a flat tree.
Reading the accompanying scriptures and adding the ornaments to the tree has become one of our most treasured family traditions.
