I’ve decided that to encourage myself to declutter, I’m going to have a garage sale. And I’m going to have it on the Saturday after this one. If I declutter and clean one room a day, that ought to leave me enough time to price everything .
I’ll start at the top of the house and work my way down. Starting with Day 1 tomorrow:
Day 1 (Tuesday)- Girls’ room
Day 2 (Wednesday) – Boys’ room (including under-eave storage)
Day 3 (Thursday) – Master Bedroom, bathroom
Day 4 (Friday) – Living room and Dining room (not much clutter here, this will mostly be cleaning)
Day 5 (Saturday) – Kitchen and Laundry area
Day 6 (Monday) – Playroom
Day 7 (Tuesday) – Garage
With this plan I should be able to price things beginning on Wednesday. However the playroom and the garage may need more than one day. (Not more than one whole day, but I have other things to do besides clean all day. Plus, I’ll get too tired.) But even spending a day and a half or 2 days on each, I’ll still have Friday to price things. Now I just hope I’ve got enough things worth selling!

I’ve never been good at having garage sales, so I always get my sister to help with them, she is great. It’s always nice to declutter, though I usually only do it when we are moving. But lately, I’ve gotten better at just decluttering in general.
Hope you get everything done like you want, and I’m sure you’ll sell a lot. 🙂

I’ve actually never had a garage sale on my own. I’ve pitched in stuff with a friend before, but never done one at my house. But our current house is in a super location for garage sales. It’s a large subdivision with several garage sales every weekend, and our driveway is on one of the main entrance roads.
Oh that sounds like the perfect place for one. You’ll have to let us know how you do. 🙂

Wow! That is a very ambitious schedule. I have been thinking about having a garage sale too. I have enough stuff that is still in really good condition and I feel like I should try to get some money back out of it instead of my usual thrift store donation.
The only thing is, the idea of my neighbors coming over, looking thru all my junk…it kind of skeeves me out a little.
