OK, so maybe I’m not quite meeting this challenge in the way it was intended. I am supposed to think of something every day that I’m grateful for. But over the weekend, I was grateful to not spend much time on the computer, thus no posts from me! But I will still think of 3 things that I am grateful for to make up for my lack over the weekend.

Saturday – I am thankful for a relaxing day at home. I was also very happy that my Wolfpack won again! It’s tough being an N.C. State fan sometimes. (Or most of the time for the last decade or so….)

Sunday – I am thankful for my church. Just over 5 years ago, the Lord led us to leave the mega-church where we had been members for the five previous years. (My husband had actually been there his entire life with the exception of the 7 years we spent in Tennessee.) We were disturbed over the direction the church was moving. (It wasn’t really new, we just were convicted that it was not the way the Lord was leading us.) To make a long story short, we went from 6000+ member church to a church to with <100 members. It wasn’t the size that was important, but we found a church of like-minded believers who actually lived like they said they believed.

Today– I am grateful that I am beginning to see glimpses of maturity emerging in my children. I think I’m going to like them as adults 🙂 Child rearing is the toughest job I’ve ever done. I’ve failed so many times, and I have a tendency to wallow in my failures. I have to remember this is a LONG-TERM job. I like instant gratification. I’m very goal oriented so correcting the same thing in my children day after day after day can be discouraging. So I’m thankful for those windows of encouragement!

And I actually didn’t get this posted on the 15th. So more gratitude to come today!

  1. I love any recognition that what I’m saying is getting through! I’m happy you have a church that suits you, and time to relax and enjoy your family. I hope you are feeling well.

  2. The important thing is that you’re doing it. And yes I totally agree that seeing those glimpses of maturity are important (they get it!!) LOL I see you use Tapestry of Grace, I was thinking o switching to it…do you love it, hate it, somewhere in between?

  3. The church sounds so nice. I sometimes wonder if the Lord will move us some day. Love our church, most of the time. But I miss the small, intimate church we use to go to in Illinois.
